Stones Night On DPTV

Detroit Public TV presents programming featuring The Rolling Stones on DPTV’s Saturday Night Concert series, March 9, from 8-11 p.m.  Veteran Detroit Radio personality Steve Kostan from 94.7 WCSX will join us in-studio to talk about the legendary British rock group during Muddy Waters & The Rolling Stones Live, from 1981 and the Rolling Stones Rock & Roll Circus, from 1968.  The Rolling Stones event is part of DPTV’s annual March membership drive, encouraging viewers to support programs on DPTV.

Extraordinary high school vocalists from Southeast Michigan are featured in Detroit Performs: Tim Janis: Celebrate America 2013

On Thursday, March 7th at 9pm ET, join composer Tim Janis, his ensemble and over five hundred extraordinary high school vocalists from across the state of Michigan for his new special Detroit Performs: Celebrate America, a collection of inspirational American songs.

The Future of Education

On March 6, The Center for Michigan and Detroit Public TV hosted a televised town hall meeting to explore early childhood education and the future of education. Journalist Christy McDonald led two panel discussions with Michigan education experts. Watch it now >

Les Misérables: 25th Anniversary Concert at the O2 Sunday, 3/10 from 7:00 - 11:00 p.m. ET. A London concert celebrating the 25th anniversary of the musical's West End opening. Doo Wop Discoveries Friday, 3/8 from 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. ET. The doo-wop music of the late 1950s and early '60s is recalled with help from Smokey Robinson; Mike Stoller (of Lieber & Stoller); Mitch and Phil Margo of the Tokens; Aaron Neville; and Neil Sedaka.

Magic Moments: The Best of '50s Pop Friday, 3/8 from 8:00 - 10:00 p.m. ET. Performers include Mel Carter, the Four Aces, the Chordettes, the Four Lads, Patti Page, Don Cherry and the Crew Cuts. Hosts: Pat Boone, Phyllis McGuire, Mary Lou Metzker, Patti Page and Debbie Reynolds.

Lawrence Welk's Big Band Splash Saturday, 3/9 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. ET. Doc Severinsen hosts this collection of big band classics from the "Lawrence Welk Show," including his 1972 visit to the music showcase.

John Denver: Rocky Mountain High Live in Japan Wednesday, 3/13 from 8:00 - 9:30 p.m. ET. John Denver performs in Japan in this 1981 concert, which includes "Annie's Song," "Calypso," "Sunshine on My Shoulders" and "Thank God I'm a Country Boy."
